What do you know about lotion pumps?

The lotion pump, also called pump head, dispenser pump, press pump, plastic pump etc. It is used in shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, facial cleanser, hand sanitizer, detergent, laundry detergent, toner, disinfectant, embellish skin oil, baby oil, essence, sunscreen, BB cream, foundation, and food packaging products. From the product function and structure, can be divided into ordinary lotion pump(screw up-down lotion pump and left-right locked lotion pump), vacuum lotion pump, all plastic lotion pump, oil pump, outer spring lotion pump (spring does not contact the liquid) and so on.

Working principle of lotion pump:

Conceptually, it's Boyle's law: the pressure of a gas in a closed container is inversely proportional to its volume at a constant temperature." The formula is: P1V1=P2V2. Colloquially understood as: in a sealed container, increasing volume leads to a decrease in pressure (suction process) and decrease in volume leads to an increase in pressure (drain process).

It is believed that every consumer is not willing to accept a bottle of products whose contents have leaked out of the surface of the bottle. The sealing function of lotion pump and bottle after filling and packaging is one of the important requirements to ensure the storage and transportation of bottled products. There are three ways to test the seal function of lotion pump.

1.Vacuumized detection: Put colored water into the lotion pump with bottle, and put it into the vacuum box to observe whether the colored water leaks out. This is the most conventional test way, and the results are intuitive.

2.Pressure type test: Fill the container with colored water, pressurize the bottle, and observe whether the colored water leaks out.

3.Gas filled test: Fill the container with compressed air at the specified pressure, and immerse the lotion pump and bottle neck in water. Observe whether bubbles overflow.

The dosage of the lotion pump: refers to the consumer each time the use of lotion pump, pump out the volume of liquid. After the lotion pump is filled with liquid, the volume of liquid pumped out by press the pump from head to the end of the stroke. Because the pump output of the lotion pump is relatively small, it is often used as a test process for 10 consecutive times and its average is taken. Some companies use grams (g) for two factors: (1) The test is done in water;  (2) The feed liquid fluidity is not good, the measuring cylinder can not read. If the feed liquid is used as the medium, the density of the feed liquid should also be taken into account when setting the pump output standard.

Frontal unwinding torque of lotion pump: Screw up-down locked pump, consumers will first turn to press the head when using, so this parameter can not be too large, to prevent the resistance is too large and lead to consumers difficult to open the pump. However, the parameter can not be too small, which will lead to loosening of the pump in the process of transportation and affect the sealing function. The conventional control parameters are 3~10Kgf·cm.

The rebound time of the pump head: The time required when the pump head is pressed down to the end of the stroke and the pump head is released to make it spring back naturally to the end of the stroke.

The influencing factors of rebound time are:

1) spring elasticity;

2) Friction resistance between piston and inner wall of body;

3) viscosity of feed liquid;

4) Fluidity of feed liquid;

5) The resistance of the size of the outlet channel to the feed liquid;

And so on. Generally with 1~3 seconds for the determination standard.
